About Buildings + Places: 

Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism and planning (landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who inhabit and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Our Detroit, Michigan studio focuses on the Commercial/Corporate, Transportation, Health Sciences, Higher Education, and Federal Market sectors. We look to combine beauty, sustainability, resiliency, and innovation in our projects and believe these values can be instilled in any project regardless of size or budget. 

AECOM  is seeking an Architectural Intern to be based in the Detroit, MI office.

This position is expected to begin in June 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the preparation of designs, quantity calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic architectural problems.
  • Maintain conformance with building standards, established architectural
  • practices, and applicable building codes.
  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
  • Must be proficient in the latest architectural and graphic design software platforms.
  • Utilize model-making skills when requested (3D printing and traditional methods).

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements: 

  • Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in an architecture program and must have completed at least  two years of study . Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred

Qualifications

  • Experience with BIM-Revit, AutoCAD, or other related CADD software.
  • Experience in the use of computers for making architectural drawings, calculations, and 3-D visual simulations. Parametric design skills are a plus.
  • A university student who has more than one year of school remaining before earning a degree is preferred, these students typically are Freshmen, Sophomores, or Juniors in university.
  • Successful Interns may be eligible to return for additional internships.
  • An ability to work collaboratively as a team player with both design staff and senior leadership.
