We are looking for a dedicated Cost Accountant to join our team in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This role involves managing cost accounting processes, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting financial analysis to ensure optimal operational performance. The ideal candidate will excel in providing actionable insights, contributing to process improvements, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee and refine standard costing and inventory systems, ensuring accuracy in cost of goods sold, inventory valuation, and system integrity.
• Collaborate on month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial variance analyses.
• Support the preparation and review of financial justifications for capital projects, while monitoring spending and reporting variances against budgets and forecasts.
• Generate periodic financial reports such as inventory performance and scrap accounting to evaluate plant operations.
• Resolve issues related to accounts payable and receivable, working collaboratively with team members.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing inventory accuracy, increasing turnover, and improving gross margins.
• Assist with updates to standard costs, inventory valuations, and annual re-costing processes, including supporting physical inventory audits.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations by designing and assessing internal controls and reporting outcomes to management.
• Perform ad hoc financial analyses to support business decisions and strategic objectives.• Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing or similar environment.
• Proficiency in month-end closing processes, including journal entry preparation and reconciliation.
• Strong skills in managing inventory systems and conducting physical inventory audits.
• Familiarity with fixed asset tracking and capital project financial reviews.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights for process improvement and operational efficiency.
• Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and internal control design.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
