We are looking for a meticulous Cost Accountant to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. In this role, you will play a key part in managing project accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting various aspects of construction accounting. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit billing documents and payment applications accurately and within established timelines.

• Process billing through customer portals as required by project needs.

• Assist in setting up and managing project accounts, ensuring accurate financial tracking and impact analysis.

• Handle change orders in the accounting system while understanding their financial implications.

• Monitor the performance and financial status of active projects to ensure alignment with company goals.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for subcontractors, including processing and releasing invoices for payment upon approval.

• Collaborate with project managers, coordinators, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

• Prepare and manage sales tax affidavits and maintain exemption-related documentation.

• Support accounts payable and receivable activities, including resolving billing discrepancies with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

• Communicate with general contractors and project owners to ensure timely receipt of payments and provide updates on account status.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in cost accounting or a related field, preferably in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with experience in Viewpoint Vista being a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, including accounts payable and receivable functions.
• Familiarity with AIA billing and construction accounting processes.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects effectively.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
• Ability to travel periodically to regional offices, with potential overnight stays.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills to address financial discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.
