Job Summary

We are seeking a Creative Arts Therapist to provide therapeutic services to patients dealing with addiction and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will utilize their specialized skills in creative arts therapy to develop and implement treatment plans tailored to patient needs. This role is integral to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that therapy sessions align with patients' developmental stages, cultural backgrounds, and recovery goals.

Responsibilities Clinical Duties
  • Conduct timely assessments and document clinical impressions.
  • Develop and implement individualized and group therapy sessions.
  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships with patients and staff.
  • Utilize therapeutic interventions that incorporate cultural and spiritual values.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions and coordinate recreational activities.
  • Collaborate in case conferences and contribute to treatment planning.
  • Ensure patient safety throughout therapy sessions.
  • Develop a resource bank for effective on-unit and off-unit therapeutic activities.
Documentation
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of patient progress.
  • Document attendance and participation in therapy sessions.
  • Prepare reports and summaries of professional activities as required.
Professionalism
  • Adhere to department and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in staff development activities and training.
  • Collaborate with support services as needed.
  • Maintain membership and credentials in relevant professional organizations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Art Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, Music Therapy, Drama Therapy, Recreation Therapy, or related field) – master’s degree preferred
  • Membership or certification in a relevant professional organization preferred
  • CPR certification desirable
  • Strong understanding of creative arts therapy principles and psychosocial rehabilitation
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Ability to de-escalate challenging behaviors and foster a safe therapeutic environment
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, and engage in physical activities for extended periods.
  • Must be able to handle potential exposure to environmental hazards and contagious diseases.
  • Requires working with patients who may be uncooperative or aggressive.
  • Knowledge of hospital health, infection control, and safety policies is essential.
