Job Description

Entry level professional and technical work managing forensic analysis of physical evidence from criminal cases and/or convicted offender DNA samples. Work includes performing all aspects of forensic DNA laboratory casework on evidentiary materials, including serology, and the evaluation and preparation of evidence, DNA typing, interpretation of analytical results, and preparation of case reports; and related work as required. Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related scientific field. Nine (9) semester hours of college course work that must have included all of the following areas: biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology and either: statistics or population genetics. OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE NEW ORLEANS CIVIL SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITHIN TWO (2) WEEKS OF APPLICATION. A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
