Fast Food Restaurant General Manager Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Fast Food Restaurant General Manager to join our team. This position will oversee all aspects of the restaurant’s operations, manage staff, ensure customer satisfaction, and help to maximize profitability. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, be able to multitask and prioritize effectively, and understand the importance of customer service.

The McDonald's General Manager is responsible for running a profitable restaurant and for making sure the restaurant meets McDonald’s critical guest standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness. These standards are high, so this is a big job! The General Manager works with his/her leader to set the restaurant’s goals and creates a plan to achieve the goals.

Ideal candidates should have previous General Manager experience running high volume locations. A background in quick service restaurants is strongly desired, or experience in hospitality or retail. You must be 18 years or older to be a manager in our corporate owned and operated restaurants.

To meet restaurant goals, the General Manager doesn’t work alone. He or she leads a team of Department Managers that has specific responsibilities in the restaurant. This means helping the Department Managers to set their own goals, following up on their progress, and providing coaching and direction to improve their Departments. By improving the Departments, the restaurant improves!

Fast Food Restaurant General Manager Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement restaurant policies and procedures
  • Monitor the restaurant’s performance and identify areas of improvement
  • Ensure the restaurant is aligned with safety and sanitation standards
  • Manage food and supplies orders
  • Manage staff scheduling, hiring, and training
  • Manage budget and ensure the restaurant is meeting financial goals
  • Resolve complaints to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Analyze customer feedback and implement changes to improve the service

Fast Food Restaurant General Manager Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, or 5+ years of experience in the restaurant industry preferred
  • Proven track record of successful restaurant management
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Knowledge and execution of excellent restaurant operations and procedures
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
