Medical Equipment CDL Delivery Driver Location Denver, CO : Description:

We are seeking a dedicated CDL Local Delivery Driver of Medical Equipment (CDL-Patient Service Technician) who wants to be part of a company who makes a difference in patient's lives. In this position you will be responsible for making deliveries, providing services and ensuring patients and/or caregivers understand instructions for and are comfortable with use of respiratory and medical equipment.

Summary/objective

Position is responsible for the delivery, set up, and maintenance of medical equipment, oxygen, and supplies, and the instruction to patients and/or caregivers concerning proper use and maintenance of equipment.

  • Adheres to and implements all AMME policies and procedures
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of:
  • Current HME products and services offered by the company; and
  • All applicable governmental regulations
  • Manages territory to reach service goals and delivers equipment and oxygen as required in accordance with industry standards and applicable federal, state and local governmental regulations.
  • Delivers and educates patients on the safe use and maintenance of respiratory and HME equipment in the home or office setting.
  • Completes written patient visit reports following setup and follow-up visits per company policy.
  • Assists in resolving customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.
  • Processes all orders and required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develops basic reimbursement knowledge, completely documents all information required to ensure reimbursement of equipment, products and services.
  • Develops technical knowledge, as appropriate, of the HME or respiratory products and services provided by the company.
  • Assists with implementation of quality improvement programs to meet company and JCAHO standards.
  • Maintains home oxygen systems in patients' homes per company policy.
  • Assumes on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
  • Reports equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains delivery activity database
  • Maintains assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe working condition
  • Completes shipping papers when transporting hazardous materials in accordance to Rotech policy and procedures
  • Communicates to supervisor any vehicle problems or conditions which would otherwise compromise the vehicle's safe operations.
  • Prepares and maintains written company records to include invoices, work orders, manifests and logs.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adheres to company policies and procedures in regards to using personnel protective safety equipment
  • Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Hazardous materials and tanker endorsement preferred but not required. Will be required to obtain once employed with our company.
  • Must have a motor vehicle record (MVR) free from suspensions, limitations or convictions for major offenses or serious traffic violations as stipulated in Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Sec on 383.51, Subpart D -Driver Disqualifications and Penalties
  • One to three years' delivery experience and working in healthcare, home health or medical field
  • Strong customer service background
  • Successfully pass a DOT physical examination upon initial employment and every two years thereaafer
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and medical examiner's certificate as applicable to the weight class of the vehicle he or she will be responsible for driving and issued by the State in which you reside

  • Effectively communicate in English; both oral and written, with physicians, location employees and patients to ensure questions and concerns are processed in a timely manner.
  • Helpful, knowledgeable and polite while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of communication mediums
  • Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME)
  • Maintain confidentiality and practice discretion and caution when handling sensitive information
  • Mapping skills including ability to plan me-saving delivery routes
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to learn

  • Multi-task along with attention to detail
  • Must be able to accurately perform simple mathematical calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Properly work an electronic tablet device that is used for services after training
  • Self-motivation, organized, me-management and deductive problem solving skills
  • Work independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands

  • Available for on-call assignments as needed
  • Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking or listening
  • Requires close vision to small print on computer and or paperwork and our electronic tablet
  • Requires lifting and transporting of patient equipment and or move full & empty cylinders
  • Requires contact with patients and equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens
  • Requires driving a company vehicle for the majority of the workday
  • Requires the ability to load, push, pull and li oxygen concentrators, oxygen tanks, portable oxygen units, positive airway pressure devices, wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, scooters, hospital bed parts, walkers, commodes and other home medical equipment and supplies in and out of location, warehouse, company vehicle, patient residence and/or delivery address

Machines, Equipment and Technical Abilities

  • Demonstrating successfully, once properly trained, the ability to operate a liquid oxygen supply vessel, as required, for trans-filling liquid oxygen on an ongoing basis
  • Electronic tablets and all corresponding equipment, such as blue-tooth ear-piece and dash mounts
  • Email transmission and communication
  • Internet navigation and research
  • Loading, unloading and proper e down procedures of transported oxygen and other cargo as per company policy Microsoft applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, etc.
  • Office equipment; fax machine, copier, printer, phone and computer
  • Operating the assigned company vehicle safely according to weight class and licensure required, to include installed apparatus (e.g., cryogenic storage vessels)
  • Operating vehicle mounted power li or rail gates as required
  • Troubleshooting and repairing equipment
  • Understanding and opera ng equipment used in trans-filling (e.g., legal for trade weigh scales, pressure gauges, flow meters, hand held oxygen analyzers and cryogenic trans-filling hoses)
  • Understanding use of all applicable home medical equipment and supplies

Work Environment

  • Office and warehouse environment
  • Extensive travel via company vehicle required to patient's homes and/or delivery address for set-ups and recurring deliveries
