TL;DR Kharon is seeking a full-time Reporter to cover sanctions, export controls, supply chains, and other global risk and compliance issues for the Kharon Brief. This role is based at our office location in Washington, D.C.
Responsibilities: - Report and write news, trending stories, and distinct analysis pieces with an engaging, authoritative and approachable voice.
- Collaborate with the Brief team, analysts and business-side stakeholders to conceptualize coverage that makes us a destination for our key news pillars, while supporting Kharon's broader business goals and objectives.
- Generate story ideas by utilizing Kharon's innovative research and data tools and by tracking relevant news and trends.
- Build sources to help explain and contextualize complex policy issues and research.
- Use data and analytics to evaluate and inform coverage.
Qualifications: - 5+ years of newsroom reporting experience.
- Passion for global, national security, business and political news.
- Expertise in compliance-related issues, such as sanctions, financial crimes, export controls, military end-use, supply chains and forced labor.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear, accessible, accurate and compelling copy on a deadline.
- Demonstrated experience in high-growth, fast-paced environments with strong adaptability to change.
- Keen judgment, initiative, ownership and follow-through.
- Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work at least four days a week onsite at our downtown D.C. office.

Reporting to the Director of Content + Strategy, this position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Kharon Brief. As the storytelling arm of Kharon, the Brief provides insight into the complex world in which we operate, appealing to customers and industry professionals. By leveraging our in-depth research and analysis, we craft stories that go beyond mainstream headlines, offering context that is both interesting and invaluable. The Brief has recently entered a new chapter, enhancing its operations with a renewed focus on producing coverage that prioritizes accessibility, while aligning with and advancing core business objectives. You will play a pivotal role in this evolution as we expand the team and hone our editorial strategy.

The base salary range at Kharon is set between $80,000-$110,000. Please note that this figure does not necessarily include potential bonuses, commissions, benefits, or equity that may be part of the overall compensation package.
