As our Restorative Practices & Culture Coordinator , you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the daily experience of our K–8 students. You will lead restorative practices, guide behavior support systems, and collaborate closely with students, staff, and families to ensure that our school is a place where every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Position: Restorative Practices & Culture Coordinator (K-8)

Role Overview:

The Restorative Practices & Culture Coordinator is an essential member of the CACS leadership and student support team. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of restorative justice as a school-wide framework, coach staff in restorative practices, and ensure that student discipline is developmentally appropriate, equitable, and rooted in care. You’ll work closely with teachers, administrators, and families to proactively build community, address conflict, and support student re-engagement after harm or crisis.

Responsibilities:

Restorative Practices & Student Support

  • Lead and facilitate restorative circles (community-building, harm-repair, and re-entry) across K–8.
  • Coach teachers and staff in using restorative language, mindsets, and strategies.
  • Build student skills in emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and accountability.
  • Support classrooms in proactively developing inclusive communities and consistent behavior norms.

Behavior Systems & Student Accountability

  • Respond to school-wide behavior incidents using restorative, trauma-informed approaches.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of incidents, interventions, and family communication using school-approved systems (e.g., PowerSchool, Playground IEP).
  • Lead or support re-entry meetings and safety planning for students returning from suspension or crisis.
  • Partner with families to address behavior concerns in culturally responsive ways.
  • Analyze behavior trends to inform proactive interventions and track progress.

School Culture & Equity

  • Model and uphold anti-racist values in all interactions, decisions, and policies.
  • Collaborate with educators to ensure behavior expectations are inclusive, equitable, and developmentally appropriate.
  • Support school-wide community events, traditions, and celebrations.
  • Partner with the admin and wellness teams to plan and deliver professional development related to restorative practices, equity, and student support.

Additional Professional Duties:

  • Attend and actively participate in school events and meetings, including Back to School Night, Exhibition of Learning, and Parent/Guardian Conferences, as well as IEP and SST meetings as needed.
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures, including attendance at weekly staff meetings, up to two additional meetings per semester, and professional development/in-service training during regular work hours.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with K–8 students, with a focus on high-needs populations.
  • Deep knowledge and training in Restorative Practices (preferably certified in circle keeping).
  • Experience in student discipline, crisis response, and behavior intervention.
  • Strong commitment to anti-racism and culturally responsive practice.
  • Proven relationship-building skills with students, families, and staff.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bilingual (especially Spanish) strongly preferred.

Preferred Credentials:

  • Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential.
  • Certified Restorative Practices Trainer or Circle Keeper.
  • Trauma-Informed Practices Certification or relevant coursework.

Schedule: Full-time position with an 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, following the school calendar.
