OPPORTUNITY
Position: Sustainability Analyst, Nielsen-Massey Vanillas
Reports to: CFO, Nielsen-Massey Vanillas
Location: Remote Capable. Waukegan, Illinois, about 40 miles north of Chicago’s Loop
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Sustainability Analyst to join our team and support our ongoing environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. This role will be responsible for analyzing sustainability data, researching, developing reports, creating and implementing sustainability programs, and supporting projects that align with our company’s sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Collect, analyze, research, and report data related to energy use, water consumption, waste management, and carbon footprint.
- Track and measure progress toward company sustainability goals, identifying areas for improvement. Develop reporting outside of the system if the system does not easily account for KPI output.
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement sustainable practices throughout the supply chain, production, and packaging processes.
- Conduct life cycle assessments (LCAs) to evaluate the environmental impact of products and processes.
- Assist with supplier engagement to ensure sustainable sourcing practices, particularly within the vanilla supply chain.
- Support certifications such as Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, or Organic, ensuring compliance and tracking documentation.
- Develop clear, concise reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Research emerging sustainability trends, best practices, and industry regulations to inform company strategies.
- Assist in preparing sustainability disclosures, including ESG reports and customer-facing documentation.
- Participate in community outreach efforts and partnerships that align with the company’s sustainability values.
- Understanding best practices and educating the organization about Sustainability
25-30% Travel
- Travel to Madagascar and other vanilla growing regions around the world.
- Travel to related conferences and seminars for continuing education and networking opportunities

Knowledge and Characteristics:
MUSTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in sustainability analysis, environmental data reporting, or related roles.
- Strong data analysis skills, including proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Experience with sustainability frameworks such as GHG Protocol, CDP, GRI, or SASB preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Passion for sustainability and environmental responsibility, with knowledge of sustainable agriculture or food systems a plus.
